Writing has always fascinated the human race. it started out that people feared the written word, but over the generations the fear dissipated somewhat. People began to use it only for record keeping purposes, but never to write down anything that might end up in the enemies hands, such as sacred lessons and ceremonies of the different cultures. For they realized that the written word could help themselves, but it is a very powerful tool that can be used against them if their writings ended somewhere it wasn't supposed to be.
Writing is now a staple of our society, but the word on paper is slowly disappearing. Just as writing first started out on stone tablets, it went to the easier to use and carry wood slabs and bark. Eventually it went to parchment and our modern paper. Now we rely on the technological age to keep our texts safe. Sensible? yes. Practical? Yes. But is it truly safe? That depends on your point of view. However, I wonder what will happen if we truly loose all books, all paper and rely solely on technology. I, personally, dread that day ever coming. Nothing is as relaxing as being able to curl up with a good book from a favorite author?
Reading and writing. Writing and reading. How often do we run to their pursuits to help balance our moods? How about some poetry to put you in a romantic mood? Or how about a suspense novel to excite us? Maybe a fairy-tale to try to relax the young ones, or a non-fiction book on a favored subject to stimulate your mind? These are but a few of the emotions that reading and writing can stimulate.
What mood do you want to be in today?
