Organization? What is that? Obviously something my desk is never known. But the rest my life? It is well organized. A few years ago I did not know that I could be to this well organized. I didn’t think that there was enough hours in the day to fit in my writing along with the rest my life. Now I now differently. At the time I was going to college and couldn’t find time to fit in any writing. Between homework, school, and home life, I was in pitiful shape. I had slumped into a depression because it cannot do everything I wanted and my health was deteriorating fast from diabetes. A doctor told me if I continued on that route, I would not last year. Learning the I had written my own death sentence, I discovered how to prioritize things to my life. I first started out with the right medication and talking to the right people. Then it was rearranging my schedule to fit everything in that I wanted to do and dropping the stuff that was not needed. I have heard it is best to fit in at least 20 minutes of writing a day. That is good advice . . . For some people. I learned that is not realistic for me. There are just some days when I do not feel well enough to write, so on those days I try to do other creative endeavors, such as computer graphics or digital painting. Now of course this is not always work every week. Some weeks I have to switch things around a bit to work in doctor apartments, shopping and playtime with family and friends. But it spreads things around evenly enough that it gives me a piece of mind knowing that I will accomplish my goals. Here are few tips to get you started in getting organized. Tip One) Make a list of your daily and monthly activities. When you know exactly what you do every day, you can make the first steps to figuring out your priorities. Tip Two) Determine which days work best for which activities. Tip Three) start out with a strict schedule, then after week, start losing the belt until you are comfortable with the time limits you set for yourself on each activity. Hint: If you can, alternate your daily activities. Try not to do the same thing two days in a row. This leads to us a chance of burnout on that particular activity. Remember, it is not necessarily being physically organized, as it is being mentally organized. If your thoughts are in chaos, then your life will be in chaos. With a little bit of work, and a lot of imagination, you too will become organized enough to become less stressed and fully productive. |
